Milwaukee County Government: Its Structure & Challenges

The League of Women Voters of Milwaukee County will host a
meeting on Milwaukee County Government:
Its Structure and Challenges
on November 9, 2013 at Havenwoods State
Forest, 6141 North Hopkins Street, Milwaukee, WI 53209.  Refreshments will be served at 9:30 a.m.  The program is scheduled from 10:00 am –
11:30 am.

Recent conflict between the State Legislature and the
Milwaukee County Board, the resulting new legislation regarding Milwaukee
County government and the proposed spring referendum regarding supervisor pay
make this a relevant discussion.

An introduction to a report released by the non-partisan
Public Policy Forum notes that although many Milwaukeeans are frustrated with
the problems of their County government, any “bold and far-reaching solutions”
must be tempered with “thoughtful, objective and rigorous analysis, and that
sometimes incremental reform is a more appropriate strategy.”  Rob Henken, President of the Public Policy
Forum will address the complex issues that surround potential structural
changes to Milwaukee County government.
