Milwaukee Animal Rescue Center pet of the week: Abbey Rose

Abbey is a very special dog looking for a very special home.

Meet the one and only Abbey Rose, a girl who will melt your heart and give every ounce of herself to her human. She tells her story like this:

My name is Abbey Rose.

My face will forever bear the scars of the life I used to know.
My soul will always remember the experience.
For I have known nothing else.

Until now.

Now I am loved.
Now I am safe.
Now I am valued. And understood. Respected.

I am hopeful that my tail can learn to wag.
I pray my soul can learn to love.
To trust.

I can already feel my body relaxing.
At peace.

I do not understand.
It feels so different.
I think I like it.

It is a new day.
I have been promised and I have promised.
A new life is ahead. And I will embrace it.

A family is waiting. Somewhere.
But I have to be patient. Until they find me.
I hope they are looking.

Here I am.

Our journey together will be worth it.
You will never regret me.
I will be loyal to you. For life.

Teach me.
Show me.
Love me.

My name is Abbey Rose.
Are you mine?
Am I yours?

Abbey's ideal home will welcome her as the only pet. A highly social canine companion may be an option for her, but she is too interested in cats to live with one. Small children tend to overwhelm her, so she prefers a home with gentle, animal-friendly youth no younger than 12. For more information on Abbey Rose and the other animals at Milwaukee Animal Rescue Center, visit the website at www.milwaukeearc.org and click on 'adopt' to download the adoption application. If you are interested in meeting this incredible girl, return your application to the Center during open hours or by fax, 414-421-8801, to set up a meeting with the foster parent. All adoptable dogs are housed in volunteer foster homes and available for meetings by appointment only. Most adoptable cats are housed at the Center and available to meet during open hours.

Visit us at 5217 S. 51st in Greenfield (on the corner of 51st & Loomis).

Milwaukee Animal Rescue Center hours:

  • Tuesdays 3-7pm
  • Thursdays 3-7pm
  • Saturdays 12-3pm

*or by appointment.

Those interested in potential adoption should plan to arrive at the Center at least 30 minutes prior to close so the adoption counselor has adequate time to devote to the visit.
