Shorewood police have canceled National Night Out due to severe thunder and lighting storms expected in the area.

The block party against crime, was scheduled to start at 4:30 p.m. but police called the event around 2 p.m. This is the second year in a row organizers have had to cancel the event, with construction on East Capitol Drive killing last year’s plans.

Meanwhile, other local communities including Wauwatosa and Menomonee Falls will continue with National Night Out activities despite the weather.
