Severe Storm Causes Flash Flooding in Shorewood

Police and the Department of Public Works were busy during a severe storm Monday morning.

Flash flooding Monday morning caused Shorewood police to close some streets and kept Department of Public Works staff busy unclogging storm drains.

The intersection of East Edgewood Avenue and North Maryland Avenue was closed by police for a short period as the Shorewood DPW worked to clear clogged sewer drains. Police say the intersection of North Wilson Drive and East Capitol Drive also saw significant flash flooding during this morning’s storm.

Lesser flash flooding was scattered about the village. Police even received a report of a sinkhole on North Lake Drive, but it was unfounded.
