Shorewood police and bike experts from teamed up to give local children a crash course in losing the bicycle training wheels at the Shorewood Business Improvement District's second annual First Ride event on Saturday.

The course was designed to help children 10 and younger learn to balance and feel comfortable without the training wheels. It’s based on an innovative β€œbalancing first” method that involves removing the bike pedals and lowering the seat during practice. The event was free and held at Atwater Elementary School.
