Village Cuts the Ribbon on Capitol Drive Renovation

Shorewood celebrated the completion of more than a year of East Capitol Drive construction including the opening of the new Oak Leaf Trail bridge.

After more than a year of dust, noise and traffic congestion, Shorewood celebrated the completion of the East Capitol Drive reconstruction project Monday.

Village President Guy Johnson cut two ribbons signaling completion of the major road project and new Oak Leaf Trail bridge. Other village and state officials were on hand educating residents on the project through a construction journal and illustrations.

The repaved streets stretching from the Milwaukee River to the lakefront, replaced the Oak Leaf Trail Bridge, modernized street signals, addressed drainage issues and added some decorative features to the major Shorewood drive.
