Walker Will Need More Than 53 Percent of the Vote in Republican Districts in His Recall

Razor thin margin of popular vote totals in Republican districts in recent Senate recall elections do not bode well for Walker in a statewide recall election.

The recent Wisconsin Senate recall elections were all held in Republican-dominated districts.

These are the districts that Republicans are "supposed" to win.

Although the four of the six Republican senators managed to maintain their seats, two of them lost to Democrats. And, this was in so-called "safe" Republican districts.

When Gov. Scott Walker faces his recall election — as I have no doubt he will — it will be the "statewide" tally that determines if he stays in office or not.

In the recent Senate recall elections, Republican candidates got a total of 184,328 votes combined, from the six "Republican" districts. The Democratic challengers got a combined vote total of 164,129 in those "Republican districts."

On a total "popular" vote basis, Republicans got just 3 percent more than 50 percent of the vote.

Walker will have to do a whole lot better than just 3 percent more than half the voters in the "safe" Republican districts, in a statewide election.

I am sure the "whiz" kids in both parties understand these numbers. Which is why the Democrats will definitely proceed with a recall of Walker, as the numbers look really good on as statewide basis.

And, why Walker will certainly try to get more to the center, if he wants to survive his recall election.
