Is Ozaukee County District Attorney Lax in Following Up on Pedophile, Helping Victim

Ozaukee County DA ignores alleged sexual assault of young girl.

Is the Ozaukee County district attorney serious about pursuing pedophiles? Does the DA care about the victims?

Within the past month, an 18-year-old girl who now lives in Milwaukee County reported that she had been sexually molested since about the age of 12 until just recently, with most of it during the time her family lived in Ozaukee County.

This was years of sexual assault on a young girl by a grown man.

The police in Ozaukee County made an arrest of a family member and that person was in jail for about three days.

The girl, now 18, lives in Milwaukee County on her own with limited resources, limited access to transportation (not much of that between Milwaukee and Port Washington) and missed an appointment with the Ozaukee County DA's office.

The alleged sexual perpetrator is now free and has no charges against him.

Why isn't the Ozaukee County DA pursuing this case?

1) The victim is in a highly vulnerable state, has limited resources, and does not seem to be getting any help from authorities in following up (transportation to Port Washington, victim advocate counseling).

2) The alleged perp has a previous domestic violence incident in Ozaukee County.

3) There was more than one girl in the household — why aren't they investigating to see if there were more victims.

4) The mother has moved out of state with a boyfriend and has a young daughter with her — is she in harm's way? Was the mother involved? Has a referral been made to the other state asking to check on status of that young girl?

5) Is it just too easy for the Ozaukee County DA(s) to just wash their hands, as all of the alleged victims are no longer in Ozaukee County, even though the sexual assaults on a young girl occurred there?

6) Does it matter that the man who allegedly committed the sexual assaults on a young girl is white — and the alleged victim is black?

Is this the due diligence we expect of our criminal justice system in Wisconsin?
