Maybe some of you folks who spend time worrying about the "War on (Victim Class du jour)" need to be paying more attention to the war on your wallets going on right under your noses. Over the long term, these kinds of things (along with the recent money management issues plaguing the school system), are more likely to unnecessarily bloat your property tax bill than are those actions taken at the state level that some find objectionable.
