What Should Take the Former Brit Inn's Place in Shorewood?

Property owner Byung Kuk Yun has, after nearly three years, finally rebuilt and placed a for-rent sign on the storefront's new windows. Have any suggestions; what do you want to see take its place?

It took nearly three years to put the pieces back together after an early morning fire ravaged the Shorewood storefront, but the former Brit Inn site has new life with a for-rent sign recently placed in the window.

The property, occupying the south half of the buildings at 4473-79 N. Oakland Ave., burned to the ground on May 26, 2009, in a fire ruled arson by authorities.

Owner Byung Kuk Yun, stifled by financial issues and a slew of obstacles including asbestos removal and contamination tests after an oil drum was found buried beneath the property, has finally rebuilt. Yun's martial arts studio BK Yun's Black Belt Academy is right next door to the north.

Construction workers have erected new walls on what Yun says he hopes will become a restaurant.

But, we want to hear what you would like to see come to Shorewood. Forget about the complicated regulations, the zoning restrictions and everything else that might put a wrench in your business idea.

Plain and simple: What business do you want in this specific location? Let us know in the comments below.

Free Shorewood- BRAVO!!! Though, my guess is You Ain't Seen Nothing Yet until they unveil the gift basket of goodies bestowed upon Roundy's when they re-develop the Pick N Save/Walgreens parcels. Instead of just giving the farm away, they may even outdo themselves and just give the entire village away on that sweet deal. Maybe we should start a pool for fun and people throw in their guesses as to what will be offered via TIF/Grants/Payback times/terms as well as what's possibly all included in the redevelopment. The winner receives a $5.00 gift card to the new Metro Mart to spend as their heart desires. Better yet, to sweeten the deal and draw more people in, a "Power Play" option could be offered so that people can possibly double their winnings to a $10 gift card. Though, this Power Play option will be just 1 of 2 choices so the odds of doubling your winnings is 50%. 1) Will the village have preliminary meetings/seek resident input into how these parcels will be re-developed/financed and take these inputs into account. OR 2) Hold all meetings behind closed doors or just the ones that they make the final decisions on and keep all residents in the dark until the drawings are presented (printed in the newspaper) the financing packages are put together (though there is the option to sweeten that end if need be to get the project done after the fact) and the dog & pony shows for residents are scheduled after all decisions have been made/agreed upon.

Planned Parenthood should move in. Maybe hiding a baby in a bedside table would be less likely to happen. Plus, repuations would be spared.
