Verizon Store Reopening Under New Ownership

After closing its doors in December, Verizon retailer Cell Vision hopes to reopen the store within a couple weeks.

After lying vacant for nine months, Shorewood's Verizon Wireless store is reopening under new ownership.

Cell Vision Inc. owner Mike Haber said Thursday he hopes to reopen the cell phone store at 4144 N. Oakland Ave. within a couple weeks. The company is a Verizon retailer, which has 17 stores in Wisconsin and Illinois.

"We are happy to be here in Shorewood," he said. "We've heard a lot of good things."

, after owner Dan Rosenbaum said he would purse other ventures. It was open for almost five years in the village, including as a Sprint store.

Rosenbaum's business gained attention from the village when officials asked Rosenbaum to remove the advertisements from the side of his building because they violated code.

He appealed the decision but eventually gave in and replaced the advertisements with red and black posters , still arguing that the change would hurt his business.

I really liked Dan and the way he ran his business. He was very savvy about customer service and hired bright young people. Thank you Dan for your contribution to the community. Kevin Tissot, LPC

How about changing the recently updated color scheme away from the Halloween theme. Not good. The accent colors remind me of those dreaded taffy candies given out at Halloween that are in the black & orange/red wrappers.

This is actually an old photo of the store. The picture frames have since been pulled from the facade.

Good. But meanwhile, I would like to see the Village Board be more flexible and open about signage with small businesses. Mom and Pop shops can live and die by signage.
