Orange Shoe Fitness Up and Running on Silver Spring

Whitefish Bay's newest personal fitness studio opened this week, offering personal training, TRX, yoga, and other exercises tailored to an individual's fitness goals.

Those looking to get in shape for the summer months have a new local fitness option in Orange Shoe Personal Fitness at 121 E. Silver Spring Drive.

Orange Shoe was started in 2004 by Joshua Martin, and now the company boasts seven locations: three in the Madison area; one a piece in Brookfield, Chicago and Houston; and now, the Whitefish Bay location.

The Whitefish Bay studio is owned by Tina Martin – no relation to Joshua. She says she chose to open in the former Honquest Furniture building because of its size, visibility and close proximity to her existing personal training clients.

"I felt the area was lacking something like this. It's a little bit different than most fitness places," she said. "Whitefish Bay is a great community, and I want to be a part of it."

Tina came to Orange Shoe after about three years of personal training in the Milwaukee-area. Before becoming a personal trainer, she played and coached volleyball at Washington State University, and then continued to play volleyball overseas.

Although there are several other fitness studios like Fitness Together, the Jewish Community Center, and LA Fitness, Martin says Orange Shoe has a special niche with pleasing aesthetics, personal attention and an emphasis on functional training, which works several parts of the body at the same time.

"When people come in, we want them to be comfortable. Some people are afraid of working out, so we can take it slow with them," Martin said. "We want to know our clients and help them get where they want to be. We want to have more of a community feel."

Orange Shoe offers 30- and 60-minute personal training sessions as well as small group sessions including hot and restorative yoga, TRX, and small group strength and cardio classes.

"We will add more classes as needed, but we wanted to have this base for the general population," Martin said.

Starting April 27, Orange Shoe will be hosting free educational workshops over the course of five Saturday mornings. For more information, visit the company's website or call the studio at (414) 212-8181.
