Experience the School of Rock

The school's grand opening will be held on Saturday.

A whole new style of music lessons is coming to the North Shore.

If you're interested in experiencing the "School of Rock" , come to the school's grand opening on Saturday from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. at 4050 N. Oakland Ave.

This will be the only School of Rock franchise in the state.

In addition to individual music instruction on guitar, bass, vocals, keyboards and/or drums, School of Rock students also learn to jam with their peers in a weekly practice session.

"We focus on group playing, which is the best way to learn," said school manager Todd Richards.

Franchise owner Rock Marasco, a Whitefish Bay native, said he was motivated to bring the franchise to Shorewood because of the artistic nature of the Shorewood community.

The student musicians' first concert will be based on the British Invasion. They will prepare a set list, find a local venue and sell tickets for the show.

"Opening a School of Rock in Shorewood is extremely fulfilling as it combines my Milwaukee roots, passion for music, and business background,” Marasco said.
