Anaba Tea Room is pleased to present “Figuratively Speaking,” an exhibition by prolific Wisconsin sculptor Paul Bobrowitz, Jr. Recognized for his whimsical style, Bobrowitz is profoundly influenced by the natural world. Abstract or impressionistic; kinetic or poised as if frozen in motion, works in the exhibition showcase the spectrum of natural and figurative themes explored throughout his artistic career.

Bobrowitz’s goal is to create metal sculpture that stimulates thought, imagination, emotion and joy. He takes pride in creating pieces that speak to people through their graceful lines, unique components and compositions. Some pieces employ colorful painted elements and humorous objects, such as coffee pots, motorcycle headlights, or kitchen utensils. He is most content when able to communicate to others the wonder and connection to nature he has experienced through the creative process.

Though Paul has no formal sculpture training, his previous carpentry experience paved the way for his artistic career. He begins with found objects, demonstrating that recycled items can become works of art. Primarily working in stainless steel and aluminum, Paul also utilizes copper, bronze, corten steel, concrete, bone, glass, stone, plastic and wood.  His private and public commissions can be found locally and nationally, but he most well-known for his spectacular six acre outdoor sculpture gallery and studio space, located in Colgate, WI. The public is welcome to visit anytime during daylight hours. You can also see one of his latest commissions “Three Stooges” outside of Lakefront Brewery in downtown Milwaukee.
