JITNEY

Andre’ Lee Ellis & Company is proud to announce their return to Vogel Hall with “JITNEY” by August Wilson. The seventh of a ten series of play written by Wilson “JITNEY” is set in the Hill District of Pittsburgh 1970’s when Black people could not get a taxi to service them in certain neighborhoods. Black men would rent out a space and place a desk and telephone there and people could call for a ride. The focus is what went on inside the “JITNEY” station and the effect it had on their daily Lives.

“We are stepping out and we plan to do it with style and with the promise of good theater. Vogel Hall is and has always been my favorite space. In many ways it feels like we are coming back home. I hope the welcome will be big, don’t Miss “JITNEY” call now and get your tickets,” Ellis.
