Shorewood Arts and Crafts Fair

On Sunday, the high school arena will play host to the .

The fair will feature work by more than 120 juried artists from the Midwest — 44 new this year — offering a wide variety for the home and garden, and one-of-a-kinds.

A sampling of the arts and crafts include doggie wear, pen and ink drawings, metal sculpture, garden orbs, baby/toddler accessories, furniture, journals, weavings, mosaics, jewelry, spices, children’s toys, clothing and garden sculpture.

Silent auction and raffle baskets benefit the athletic programs.

The event is run by the Shorewood Booster Club, which supports all the athletic teams at the high school along with fulfilling the various needs of the and elementary schools' sports programs. Sunday serves as the largest one-day fundraiser for the club.

Admission is $4, and the event starts at 10 a.m. at 1701 E. Capitol Dr.

Preps sports

Shorewood girls and boys basketball teams kick off their seasons this week with the girls hosting Milwaukee Riverside on Tuesday night at 7:30 and the boys welcoming University School for a 7:30 p.m. tipoff on Wednesday.

Both teams will play again on Friday, with matches against Greendale's boys and girls basketball teams, set for 7:30 p.m. The boys will travel to Greendale, while the girls will host the game. Home games are at , 1701 E. Capitol Dr.

Additionally, the Whitefish Bay-Nicolet-Shorewood combined hockey team starts its season Tuesday night with a 7 p.m. match at Beaver Dam.

Shoo the flu

The , 2010 E. Shorewood Blvd., is holding a walk-in flu shot clinic 3:30 Tuesday afternoon. Shots are $30 for adults and $5 for children and teenagers. Contact the health department at 414-847-2710 for more information.

Story time at the library

It’s story time at the on Monday. starts at 10:10 a.m. and 6:10 p.m. for 6-month to 2-year-old children. runs at 9:10 a.m. and 7 p.m. Both events are free, but you’ll need to register. The library is located at 3920 N. Murray Ave.

Talking Shorewood sewers

Local citizens group, Shorewood Citizens for Responsible Government, is hosting a .

The group says it will have several financial and engineering professionals, who are not connected with the execution of this proposed plan, in attendance and available to answer resident's questions.

The forum starts at 6 p.m. in the Shorewood Village Center, 3920 N. Murray Ave. Lowr Level.
