Shorewood to Be Showcased in MPTV's 'Around the Corner' Series

The show, hosted by actor John McGivern, dives into the secrets and interesting tidbits in different Wisconsin communities. Friday, the Milwaukee Public Television program will be in Shorewood to start filming its second season.

Those who have called Shorewood home for much of their lives, and even the newcomers, can tell our village holds a lot of interesting historic tidbits.

Enough at least, to fill a 30-minute program.

Our fair village will be the subject of a Milwaukee Public Television program titled "Around the Corner." Hosted by Emmy award-winning actor John McGivern, filming will start in Shorewood on Friday for an episode that will anchor the program's second season, which is scheduled to return to the air in January.

McGivern leads unique field trips through Wisconsin towns and neighborhoods discovering their secrets and history. In all of the episodes he bumps into local historian John Gurda, who shares fascinating historical gems about town settlers, buildings, parks and neighborhoods.

"Around the Corner" will hit local businesses including and , interview , chat with organizations like the and dive into the history behind and , among other Shorewood hot spots.

In the show's first season, McGivern showcased villages like Greendale and Wauwatosa and neighborhoods like Riverwest, Brady Street and the Third Ward, to name a few.
