Shorewood Has a Wild Side

Turkeys, falcons, foxes and other wildlife have been spotted around Shorewood.

Wildlife is everywhere in Wisconsin – even in the state's most densely-populated community.

Last week I spotted two deer at Estabrook Park, and I wondered if it was a rare occurrence or not. I made a call out on the Shorewood Patch Facebook page to find out what wildlife other people have spotted around Shorewood.

It turns out there is much more wildlife roaming around Shorewood other than my two deer:

  • Deborah Parkhurst said she once saw a red fox and four kits.
  • Missy Bachman Ugland saw a great horned owls nest in Estabrook Park.
  • Maggie Jonas Dietrich said she saw turkeys along Lake Drive last week.
  • Several Facebook followers reported seeing falcons and coyote in the village.
