Shorewood's First Tree Lighting Set for Friday

Shorewood High School carolers and McMenimen Irish Dancers are among the entertainment, organizers will offer holiday treats and say expect a jolly special guest.

Shorewood's Kensington Square will light up with holiday cheer Friday for the village's first ever Christmas tree lighting.

It's scheduled for 7 p.m. at The Cornerstone patio, between North Star American Bistro and Thief Wine.

"It's something that we see becoming a family, holiday tradition in Shorewood," said Lisa Downey with the Shorewood Business Improvement District.

Goody Gourmets will offer complimentary popcorn, Indulgence Chocolatiers will provide free chocolate and North Star has the hot cocoa covered, Downey said. 

The tree was donated by Ideal Property Management, which manages the tree lot near Harry's Bar and Grill. The evening is being sponsored by local Allstate agent Andrew McCabe.
