Shorewood to Reschedule Fireworks Display for Another Summer Night

The village pulled the plug on its Independence Day fireworks display on Wednesday due to weather conditions, but plans to light up the sky over Lake Michigan sometime later this summer.

North Shore Fire Department officials and Shorewood police postponed the village's Fourth of July display Wednesday night due to hot, dry weather and windy conditions.

However, officials say they plan to reschedule the fireworks display for another night this summer at Atwater Park, though a date hasn't been set.

Concern over wind blowing off Lake Michigan pushing fireworks embers onto Atwater Park's dry bluff grasses, posing a danger of fire, caused the village to postpone.
