Relay for Life Coming to SHS

The event will run April 6 and 7 on the high school track and football field, 1701 E. Capitol Dr., and is being organized by the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. It is open to the public.

Shorewood High School will host the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life for the first time, next month. 

The event will run April 6 and 7 on the high school track and football field, 1701 E. Capitol Dr., and is being organized by the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. It is open to the public.

The event begins April 6 with a 1 p.m. Survivor’s Lap, in which those diagnosed with cancer, as well as caregivers, take a lap around the track together.

The event continues at 10 p.m. when those currently fighting cancer, and who have lost their lives to the disease, are honored during the relay’s Luminaria Ceremony — the highlight of the event.

Teams should be made up of between eight and 15 participants. Registration is $10.
