Old man winter has arrived in Shorewood.

Well, the first true snowfall of the year has arrived, though a little late, and it's causing slippery roads and blitz-like conditions in the village.

And now that it's here, Shorewood Department of Public Works plowing crews are out on the streets of Shorewood clearing the snow as it continues to fall.

The snow began at roughly 9:30 a.m. Thursday in Shorewood, and the snow is expected to last through Friday morning. The National Weather Service is predicting between 5 and 7 inches will fall in the two-day period. Roughly 3 to 4 inches is expected to fall by this evening.

Although the storm arrived after the morning commute, snow is accumulating on the roadways and could slow traffic for the ride home. Check the live traffic conditions on Patch to plan your route and avoid heavy traffic.

Shorewood Patch hasn't received any notifications about closures and local police say they haven't received any reports about car accidents due to the snow, as of 5:30 p.m.
