Man Pledges to Donate $50K to Humane Society, With One Stipulation

The Wisconsin Humane Society is hoping adoptions between both the Ozaukee and Milwaukee campuses will hit 500 animals during the month of September in order to get this generous $50,000 donation to the shelter.

Adoptions from area Humane Society's are worth a whole lot during the month of September after one man has stepped up with the offer to donate $50,000.

Stan Kass, , has said he will donate the $50,000 if 500 animals are adopted by the end of the month from the Ozaukee and Milwaukee county locations combined, according to a press release from the shelter. d

"We are so thankful to Stan for his generosity, which he also hopes will inspire the whole community to show just how much they care about homeless animals," said Anne Reed, WHS’s executive director. "Whether you’re able to adopt a homeless animal, or make a gift to WHS, we know that Southeastern Wisconsin can step up to the challenge and make a difference in the lives of countless animals in our community."

Kass got involved with the Humane Societer after he lost his beloved wife of 56 years to cancer last year; after she died, he adopted dog named Reggie. Because of the way Reggie helped him heal, he thought it would be a great way to give back.

"They say people help animals," Kass said in an interview with WISN.com last year. "I think animals help people. I’m finding that out in the last year since my wife passed away."

During September, the Wisconsin Humane Society will be taking pictures with adopters to post to a special Facebook album, the press release said. Follow both the Ozaukee and Milwaukee campuses.
