Boston Solidarity Run in Shorewood Today
One day after bombs exploded at the finish line of the Boston Marathon, Whitefish Bay resident Renee Scherck-Meyer said she felt compelled to run, and is inviting others to run in a show of support.
Update Tuesday at 2:57 p.m.
The run today will now take place on the Oak Leaf Trail. The Shorewood High School track is occupied. Runners will meet in the track and field parking lot and run west on East Capitol Drive to the trail.

One day after bombs exploded at the finish line of the Boston Marathon, Renee Scherck-Meyer said she felt compelled to run.
"...Everytime I think about it, I begin to tear up," said Scherck-Meyer, a Whitefish Bay resident. "I planned on doing my interval (speedwork) today and thought it would be nice to say a prayer to myself after each lap."

But, she said she didn't want to do it alone.
Along with her husband Mark Meyer who ran the Boston Marathon in 2011, Scherck-Meyer is inviting other runners to fill the Shorewood High School track at 6 p.m. Tuesday in a show of support for Boston after the bombings that killed three and wounded dozens.
"You can run, jog or walk — whatever pace you want to go," she said.
She said her husband will be wearing his Boston Marathon gear when he runs today.
"I would be pleased to see the track filled with those that support Boston," she said.
