Updated at 5:15 p.m. Saturday
Hundreds of Shorewood homes and businesses were without power for a little more than an hour Saturday, but electricity had been restored throughout the village by 5:15 p.m.
When the power was first knocked out shortly before 4 p.m. because of a malfunctioning underground cable, more than 1,800 homes and businesses were affected.
By 5 p.m., about 700 We Energies customers in Shorewood remained without power.
The area affected was near East Olive Street and North Maryland Avenue.
Efforts to repair the cable were slowed somewhat because it was located underground, making it difficult to pinpoint where the problem occurred, a We Energies spokeswoman said.
Thanks for the truth.
