Ex-Lawmaker Marc Duff May Get Post With Shorewood Schools

The School Board will vote Tuesday night on whether to hire former GOP legislator from New Berlin as its new business manager.

A former Republican legislator could become the next business manager of the Shorewood School District.

The School Board is expected to vote Tuesday night on whether to hire Marc Duff, who served in the state Assembly from 1989 to 2002, for the position. Duff, who is budget manager and financial analyst for the Racine Unified School District, also served on the Waukesha County Board and the New Berlin School Board.

He also has worked as a senior policy and research director for the Taxpayers Network in Green Bay.

“Marc is coming to Shorewood with a strong background in public service and a vast array of knowledge and experience of school district funding in our state,” Superintendent Marty Lexmond said in a statement. “He impressed the interview panel with his knowledge of school business management and operations and with his thoughtful and engaging demeanor.”

The board will vote on a recommendation to hire Duff at a special meeting set for 7 p.m. in the Shorewood High School Library. Members also will act on the possible hiring of Jeff Cyganiak as the new director of special education.

Cyganiak has been a special education teacher, special education coordinator and director of pupil services for the Fox Point-Bayside School District.

If the board approves hiring both men, contract terms will be finalized and presented to the board for final approval.
