What Should Replace Performance Running Outfitters?
We learned this week that the organic pizza restaurant that had planned to move in was no longer coming. What do you think should be in this prime Shorewood storefront?
We learned this week that the organic pizza restaurant that had planned to move in was no longer coming. What do you think should be in this prime Shorewood storefront?
Jim Plaisted, Shorewood Business Improvement District executive director, told Patch Monday there is interest in the storefront.
"I talked to the landlord last week and there are no current solid leads at the space, though there is much interest," Plaisted said in an email.

Let's just save everyone the trouble and re-read the previous 'what should go here' articles...

I keep trying to think - what do I wish was in Shorewood that I have to travel to another community for and I can't for the life of me think of anything. I know sometime this week I will be in Mequon or Wauwatosa at a store and think "I wish there was one of these in Shorewood" until then I'll have to let others come up with a suggestion. I'll be happy with anything and support it as long as it is not another beauty salon or pizza joint.

The retail space available at this particular location does not lend itself to anything except a small specialty shop. I could see a high end shop and accessory shop. Perhaps a high end cosmetic and perfume shop or a bridal shop. What the village needs is a hardware store like Ace or True Value. The building on Wilson that AB Data had would be the right size and location for a hardware store.

@Lyle A hardware store would be nice, but a large one like an Ace or True Value on Wilson would not be able to compete with Home Depot. They would not be big enough to compete on price with HD, but they would be too big with too much overhead to survive.
Actually a "specialty" hardware store might not be too bad on that corner --- as long as the parking is very short term on the street, so that customers can stop there.
A place that would have a limited selection of tools (2 or 3 types of hammers, not 20), and very service oriented, such as glass replacement and repair, storm windows, key making, lock smith service -- that sort of thing.
Very few power tools --- mostly tools and hardware to cater to the homeowner's needs --- not the needs of a contractor. IE. simple outlets and faucets --- not miles of conduit, no breaker boxes, etc.
Simple painting supplies, but not a large selection of paint --- Sherwin Williams is across the street.
Quick in and out -- homeowner oriented --- convenience and service at price points that are acceptable and enable a profit.
