Shorewood Snapshot: School Board; St. Robert Centennial Celebration

A look at this week's local events and news.

 

Here's a look at what's coming up this week in Shorewood. If we're missing something, please add it to the calendar.

School meeting — Discussion about changing the Messmer/Shorewood football team logo and district retiree benefits other than pensions are among items on the agenda for a regular School Board meeting slated for Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the Shorewood High School library, 1701 E. Capitol Dr.

Governmental meetings — The village's Parks Commission and Board of Appeals both meet on Tuesday in 5 p.m. The Pedestrian and Bicycle Safety committee meets later that night at 7.

The Library Board convenes at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

Then the Design Review Board meets on Thursday at 5 p.m.

St. Robert's centennial anniversary celebrationSt. Robert Parish has been rejoicing over a century in Shorewood since the beginning of the year, and will continue with its Centennial Mass on Oct. 14 at 2 p.m.

The Most Reverend Jerome Listecki, Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Milwaukee will be the celebrant. The mass at the church, 2212 E. Capitol Dr., is open to the public, and a reception in St. Robert School will follow.

Too bad they lack in their teaching of academics. Their science department was once the envy of the area.
