Shorewood Snapshot: Messwood Playoff Game; Village Meetings

A look at this week's local events and news.

 

Here's a look at what's coming up this week in Shorewood. If we're missing something, please add it to the calendar.

Messwood playoff game — The Messmer-Shorewood co-op (7-1) earned a No. 7 seed in its eight-team bracket of the WIAA Division 2 tournament, and visits North Shore neighbor Whitefish Bay (7-1) at 7 p.m. Friday.

Village meetings — A sewer lateral rehab program and new contract for crossing guard services are among items on Monday night's Village Board agenda. The meeting starts at 7:30 p.m. at Village Hall, 3930 N. Murray Ave.

Budget talks continue this week including with the Shorewood Police Department and Planning and Development Department on Tuesday and Village Clerk's office and special taxing districts on Thursday. Both meetings start at 6:30 p.m. at Village Hall.

Meet local author — Shorewood author and illustrator Andy Rash will speak at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Shorewood Public Library, 3920 N. Murray Ave.

Rash’s most recent book is The Creature from 7th Grade: Boy or Beast. In his 2009 book, Are You A Horse?, Roy gets a saddle for his birthday and goes searching for a horse. Amazon.com users consistently praised the book in reviews.

This event is sponsored by the Shorewood Library and Boswell Book Company.

Other preps sports — The boys volleyball team will compete in a Woodland Conference tournament on Wednesday at 5 p.m. held at New Berlin High School.

The Shorewood girls swimming tem will host a meet 6 p.m. on Wednesday against Whitnall.
