Police Report: Woman Makes Off with $539 Worth of Groceries from Pick 'n Save

A roundup of the latest from the Shorewood police reports.

Police say a woman was caught on surveillance video walking out of Pick ‘n Save, 4145 N. Oakland Ave., with a cart brimming with merchandise — $539 worth — of which she didn't pay for.

Security at the grocery store called police Friday to report the theft. The theft occurred just before 11 p.m. on Thursday, minutes before the store closes.

In other police news:

  • Medical treatment was sought for a child after a dog jumped up and bit the child's left thigh, causing bruising, scratches and a laceration, at the Estabrook dog park, on Sunday.
  • A Shorewood resident called police Friday to report a juvenile had damaged a side view mirror on their car. The resident said the car was parked in the 3900 block of North Murray Avenue and one of 15 juveniles riding together rode past the car and struck the mirror. Police didn’t have a damage estimate as of Monday.

How the hell do you walk out with that much crap? And how long did it take said thief to load it in its car? Or did the thief just keep walking down Oakland Ave cart in tow?
