Police Report: Drunken Driver Causes Car Accident

Police arrested a 34-year-old Milwaukee man for drunken driving Jan. 18 after he failed to yield at a Shorewood intersection and crashed into a car.
According to the police report, the driver pulled up to a flashing red light at the intersection of North Oakland Avenue and East Kenmore Place around 11:40 p.m. The driver failed to yield to southbound traffic on Oakland Avenue and struck a car causing severe damage.
No one was injured.
When police made contact with the driver, they say he smelled of alcohol and had bloodshot eyes. The driver later admitted to drinking, police say.
He failed field sobriety tests and registered a .15 blood alcohol content during a Breathalyzer. It’s his first operating while intoxicated offense.
In other police news:
- An 18-year-old Shorewood man was cited for unlawful use of a computer and disorderly conduct Tuesday after police say he sent several threatening messages to a Shorewood High School student via Facebook.
- A $200 iPhone and $20 phone case were reported stolen from a Shorewood Fitness Center weight room, 1701 E. Capitol Dr., sometime between 7 and 7:45 p.m. on Thursday.
- Wednesday, a Shorewood resident reported their social security number had been used sometime between January 2006 and Jan. 17 to gain employment. Police say the identity thief may live in Kansas.
