Person Rescued, But Dog Dies in Shorewood Duplex Fire

North Shore Fire crews are still trying to pinpoint the cause of a fire at 2702 E. Jarvis St. early Saturday morning.

One person was rescued from a second floor balcony and transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injures Saturday morning during a duplex fire at 2702 East Jarvis Street.

However, a dog was found dead in the second floor living room.

North Shore Fire Department crews responded to the blaze at 2:23 a.m. and left the scene at 5:51 a.m.

Battalion Chief Peter Busalacchi said the fire started in a back bedroom on the second floor, but a cause has yet to be determined.

The second floor sustained severe fire damage and the first floor and basement smoke and water damage.

Busalacchi said the department estimates the damage at $150,000.

Interesting, One of Shorewood's newest buildings -- that is one around 40 years old -- getting hit with a fire.

I lived next door to this house for four years. It is not one of Shorewood's newest buildings . Homes of all ages can be hit with fire at any time. What is so " interesting"? Let's put our thoughts to the people who have lost their home.
