New Day Spa Coming to Shorewood

Le Cocon will join the village's stock of hair, nail salons and spas on North Oakland Avenue under Theresa Danzer, with a focus on affordability and clinical skin treatments.

Theresa Danzer says she has been working toward this moment for years — studying, gaining real world experience at a handful of clinics and then instructing others in the field of aesthetics and skincare.

"This moment" is the opening of her new day spa, Le Cocon, in Shorewood which will offer skin treatments — both clinical and non-clinical — and massage therapy.

"Once I got in here and started putting it all together, I realized this is where I was meant to be," she said.

Danzer hopes to join Shorewood's stock of hair and nail salons and spas at 3811 N. Oakland Ave. on Monday. Then, she’ll hold an open house on July 21 and 22, offering free chair massages and facials, and give customers an opportunity to test some of the products.

As a child, Danzer said she suffered from bad skin, and as a result became passionate about helping others deal with their skin problems.

"I love people; I wanted to do something where I'd be helping others," she said. "But also, I feel I have an eye for aesthetics whether it’s make-up or something else; I wanted to do something creative in my field."

With the new spa, she hopes to fill the niche of an affordable skincare and aesthetics shop in the village.

"I took into consideration that there are high school and UWM students and the demographic of the area and wanted to make it more affordable for those clients," she said. "I wanted people to feel like they can come more frequently than having to break the bank for something they really need, or simply want."

Le Cocon's basic skin treatments start at $29 and a comprehensive hour massage is $49. Danzer said she custom blends treatments for each customer, based on their skin type, following a skin analysis.

"We don't have a one-size-fits-all approach," she said.

Much of Danzer’s training was focused in oncology, and the new day spa will build off that training, offering treatments for those battling cancer.

“We will have safe treatments for them here, as far as massages, facials and skin care,” she said.

Makeup artistry, waxing, body treatments, chemical peels, microdermabrasion, massages and facials will also be apart of the list of services Le Cocon will offer, Danzer said.

“Anything that has to do with the health and beauty of the skin, we are going to try to offer,” she said. "We are going to try to have a very well-rounded service menu to try to appeal to those people that just want something for a special occasion and then the person that has some really serious skin conditions and they want ongoing treatments."

Danzer and her husband did much of the renovations inside the new shop, putting up walls, painting and performing other improvements. She was lucky enough to have her equipment donated to her from a friend who decided to close her business.

She currently teaches at the Mequon-Thiensville School of Aesthetics, the same school Danzer was trained at. She also trained in Chicago on more advanced treatments and therapies.

Her training initially pushed Danzer toward a clinical-focused career, but she found herself more interested in an atmosphere which allowed for more personal one-on-ones.

Danzer hopes to hold educational sessions and demonstrations at Le Cocon after the opening.

Contact Le Cocon at (414) 628-2094 or lecocondayspa@yahoo.com. Once doors open, the shop's hours will be Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday; and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday.
