Local English Pub to Open Doors Early for Royal Wedding

Three Lions Pub will open their doors at 5 a.m. for those serious about the royal wedding.

The royal wedding is coming to Shorewood, and apparently you'll need a fancy hat to attend.

Shorewood’s British-style pub, Three Lions Pub at 4515 N. Oakland Ave., will open their doors at 5 a.m. Friday and televise the royal wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton on wide-screens, with all the traditional English amenities.

“It is going to be brilliant,” co-owner David Price said.

Price said the pub will serve tea, cucumber sandwiches and crumpets, since they can’t serve alcohol until 6 a.m. when Primms cups, an alcoholic drink popular in England, or other mixed drinks.

“It is a huge celebration back home and there are a lot of English here that want to celebrate,” Price said.

Price, an England native, said he was too young to really celebrate when Princess Diana was married, but is taking Prince William and Kate Middleton's royal wedding very seriously.

He added everyone will have to wear a “Posh” hat to join the royal wedding festivities Friday morning.

“We have a group of girls coming out for the big event, and they all bought fancy posh hats,” he said.

He added he has been receiving a lot of calls about the early morning wedding party. The service is scheduled for 11 a.m. at Great North Door of Westminster Abbey in London, 5 a.m. in Wisconsin.
