Girls Win 7th Straight Woodland Conference Title
The varsity swimming team cruised to a 58-point victory while the junior varsity team also had an impressive conference meet, dominating with a 126 point victory.

The girls swimming team won its seventh consecutive Woodland Conference Championship Saturday, overcoming a 34-point relay disqualification to cruise to a 58-point victory.
The girls scored points in 25 of their 27 entries, won nine of the 11 swimming events, set five pool records and set four new Woodland Conference records on their way to a title.
The medley relay got things started with the team of Melissa Clausen, Rachel Munson, Ellen Stello and Eva Jorn winning the event in a pool record and conference record time of 1:52.20.
The team of Chloe Borut, Monica Dix, Lucy Petrick and Anna Mueller picked up points by finishing eighth. Stello had perhaps the biggest day winning all four of her events in record fashion, with either conference or pool records. She won the 100 Butterfly for the fourth straight year in a meet record time of 59.24. Jorn was fourth in this event, as well.
Stello also won the 500 Freestyle with both a meet and conference record time of 5:05.56, with Genevieve Hayes taking third. Stello was also a member of the 400 Freestyle Relay team with Clausen, Hayes and Kristin Malone that took first in a conference record time of 3:40.01. Kristin Malone also took first in the 100 Freestyle in a season best 51.80 that was also a new meet and conference record, and took first in the 50 Freestyle.
Munson won the 100 Breastroke in a new meet record time of 1:07.13, and won the 200 Individual Medley with a season best time of 2:10.71. Borut was seventh in the 200 IM, as well. Clasuen won the 100 Backstroke, while Borut grabbed another seventh place in this event also. Not to be lost in the mass of great swimming was Hannah Miller who had an exceptional meet dropping :14 seconds in the 500 Freestyle (14th place) and more than :07 in the 200 IM (13th place). Anna Gruber added valuable points to the team effort with her season best time in the 100 Breastroke and a 12th place finish. Elena Cruz also dropped big time off her season best in the 200 Freestyle, 2:131.26, good for 13th place.
The junior varsity girls also had a very successful meet at the Woodland Conference JV Championship where they won by 126 points over second place New Berlin Eisenhower.
The 200 Medley Relay teams went 1-2 with the team of Shelby Hammond, Sarah Gruber, Yunny Youm and Emily Kregloski taking first, and the team of Alex Knitter, Lina Jeong, Natalie Dess and Tasha Rono taking second. Emily Kregloski won the 50 Freestyle and took second in the 200 Freestyle, while Kyle Tsuchiyama took fourth in th 200 Free. Yunny Youm won the 200 IM and the 100 Butterfly. Shelby Hammond won both the 100 Backstroke & the 100 Freestyle, both with season best times. Natalie Dess won the 500 Freestyle in a season best 6:39.64. Alex Knitter had a season best time as she took second in the 100 Backstroke and Kyle Tsuchiyama took fourth also with a season best time. Lina Jeong took third in the 100 Breastroke with a season best time. Gruber had a season best time finishing fourth in the 100 Freestyle and took fifth in the 100 Breastroke. Finally, the 400 Freestyle Relay team of Dess, Youm, Gruber and Kregloski won the final event of the meet to cap a phenomenal day in the pool for the JV team.
