2 More Home Burglaries Overnight on Tuesday

Police are imploring residents to lock their homes after two new burglaries brought the count to 14 in just over a month — most of which were at unlocked houses.

Two more homes were burglarized overnight in Shorewood, bringing the tally to 14 in just over a month in the village.

Police say homes on the 2800 block of East Menlo Avenue and 3500 block of North Summit Avenue were hit Tuesday night.

Wallets and a laptop were stolen from the homes, and credit cards were used to make fraudulent purchases. Police say residents were home when the burglary on Summit Avenue occurred.

Authorities in Milwaukee and other North Shore communities are working to curb the wave of burglaries. Police say while they happen at different times, but a common theme has emerged — entry was gained to most of the homes through unlocked doors.

Lock your home, garage and cars, police say, even if you're in your home. Leave a light on when you go to bed.

If residents see anything suspicious or out of the ordinary, they are asked to call police at 351-9900 or 911 if you see a crime occurring.
